TOPIC: “THE POWER OF GOD’S WORD”!!

TEXT: ST. JOHN 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

SUBTOPIC:  “NO MORE EXCUSES”!!
This first chapter of St. John is speaking about the “Word”.  This “Word” was Jesus.  “Word” in the Greek is from the root word “logos”, signifying something said (including the thought); a topic or subject of discourse [verbal exchange or conversation]; reasoning, including the mental faculty; the Divine Expression (Christ).
This very same “Word” created the heaven and earth in Genesis 1:1, with God (Elohim) saying, “Let there be”!  Like God, our word has creative power in the same manner.
As we mature in God we begin to know just who we are.  We realize that we are not the same anymore.  We have come to realize our thoughts or thought processes have changed, our conversation has changed, our vision has changed, all by the power of God’s Word.  He didn’t save and set us apart (speaking of the sons) just to go to church every Sunday to warm pews, but we have come to know that “we” are the church.  We are “Christ’s Body” in the earth.
  • Romans 12:5: So we, being many, are one body in Christ and everyone members one of another.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:12: For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body:  so also is CHRIST.
  • Ephesians 5:30: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
When God empowered us, He didn’t empower us to just talk about the “Word”, but He empowered us to do something, He empowered us to “work the Word” so that we could “work the works”!  He empowered us to “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” Mark 16:15.
God did not empower us with limited ability but through Jesus the Christ, He has empowered us with “all power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us” Luke 10:19
These things will come into play as we go and do!!  We have the power!  We have the power of God’s Word!  We have the power of God’s anointing that destroys yokes and removes burdens!!  Hallelujah!!!  But with us having all this power must be ready and willing to take it wherever God sends us and do whatever He tells us to do!
"Well I don’t feel like it"! Tell your feelings to “shut up” and take authority over your flesh!
  • Mark 14:38: Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.  The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak”.
We have even said things like this, "Well I don't think they’re ready for this"!
  •  2 Timothy 4:2: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.                                                                                                                                                                     "I’m scared they’re going to talk about me"!
  • 2 Timothy 1:7: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  "They’re not going to invite us back anymore"!
  •  Matthew 10:14: And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
You see how the enemy toys with our mind?  Even with that, God has given us the remedy according to 2 Corinthians 10:4: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds!
Do you remember the changes I mentioned earlier – one being “our conversation”?  Our “conversation” has to match our walk, our faith, and belief in God.  We no longer have just mere “conversations” as others who don’t know Christ.  But we as “sons” who have come to maturity have come to talk and speak with creativity!  No mere grumbling and always complaining as one who claim to know Him.  Our “words” are powerful!  We make sounds with our voice.  What kind of sounds are you making?  Are they creative or are they destructive?
  • Proverbs 18:21: Death and life are in the power of the tongue:  and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
  • Matthew 12:36-37: But I say unto you, “That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”.
With that same voice we express words to communicate our thoughts and feelings.  These same words we speak, reveals our thoughts and feelings, which reveals the quality of our consciousness.  That is why we have to renew our minds!  Whatever is in the heart the mouth will speak, whether it’s good or whether it’s bad.
  • Matthew 12:34: O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things?  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
We as “sons” must know and remember that we are “spiritual beings” having a “natural experience”!  We must think life, talk life, and see ourselves filled with the fullness of life!  When we are not manifesting “life”, our thoughts and conversations are not in accord with “life”!
  • John 14:6: I am the way, I am the truth, and I am the life.
  • 1 John 4:17: As he is, so are we, in this world.
[We must know that we don’t just “have life”, but that we “are life”!
Listen, you can think anything you want to in your “spirit”, but your mouth doesn’t say it until the thought goes to your “mind”!  You can think it in your “spirit” and keep your mouth shut, but when the thought goes to the “mind”, your “mind” can make your mouth say what you’re thinking!
Let our words and thoughts, be creative.  For our words can affect change in our lives and others.  Let us speak life, health, peace, love, joy, understanding, stability, awareness, and soundness into the lives of others as well as ourselves.  And that, that we don’t understand, pray in the Spirit!
  • Romans 8:26: Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities:  for we know not what we should pray for as we ought:  but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
We’re still talking about “the power of God’s Word”, even “the power of “our words”!   “NO MORE EXCUSES”!
We’re “spiritual beings” having a “natural experience”!  This is how we shall always succeed in all we do, being led by the Spirit, seeing and knowing God by the Spirit, understanding and interpreting the Word of God by the Spirit, revealing the Word of God by revelation by the Spirit!  “For God is a Spirit” St. John 4:24, and if we as a people do not hear Him by the Spirit, we will never come into the fullness of God.  For it is the “revelation” of God’s Word that will open your eyes to see and open your ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church!
  • Ephesians 1:15:: Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
  • Vs 16: Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
  • Vs 17: That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
  • Vs 18: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
  • Vs 19: And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe according to the working of his mighty power.
Let us think life and talk life!  Because of “the power of God’s Word”, it is our weapon to use against the enemy and win!  The power of God’s Word is the “sword of the Spirit” Ephesians 6:17, which is “sharper than any two-edged sword” Hebrews 4:12.  Meaning, it is quick (alive) and powerful!  It is the key to victory and success!
Remember, all we have to do is speak it and God Himself will perform it!  The “power of God’s Word” spoken are creative, powerful, effective, active, and it accomplishes wherever it is sent.
  • Isaiah 55:10: For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
  • Vs 11: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth:  it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it!
God’s Word gives eternal life to those dead in Christ!  It’s time!  Stir up the gift that is in you!
“NO MORE EXCUSES”!!!
