I’ve heard preaching of the “rapture” for years.
Webster defines the word rapture as the “state of being carried away with joy, love, etc; ecstasy”. Webster has a better understanding of rapture than most Christians. At least Webster knows that you can be “carried away with joy, love, etc.” without sailing off anywhere for it to happen.
Most Christians believe that in order to go and be where God is, they have to be “carried away” or need to “sail off” through the clouds, the atmosphere, stratosphere with Jesus to get to where God is. But the truth of the matter is “He is already with us”.
- Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US.
First of all, Religion teaches that “when Jesus comes back”, as though He isn’t here now, He’s going to take the “church” back with Him and the Holy Ghost too. I’ve heard it sung in songs as well.
