Only Believe!

Only Believe! Evangelist Jackie Burton talked to us a while back about “Believe”, but God kept laying in my spirit “Only Believe”. I wrote down the word believe, and the Holy Spirit gave this meaning. I am giving it to you as He gave it to me. The word believe means to accept or regard something as true; to accept truth of what is said by someone. We know who truth is: John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. Let’s take another look at the word believe: Be-lie means to give a false idea of something or to show something to be false or wrong; unbelief. It comes from Satan, the serpent, the dragon, the devil. He has many names, but he is still an enemy and still under our feet. Be-live means by life, i.e. with liveliness. Be - used to indicate the identity of a person; used to describe the qualities of a person; to indicate the condition of a person. Live - be alive; continue to be alive; have a home in a specified place. I wrote down the word “heaven” because heaven and hell are just what we make it. God wants to put us into the “heavenly” (which means abode or the dwelling of God; higher elevation) with God. Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. We have been taught that heaven is up yonder, but it is right here. Just like hell is right here. If we are in misery and allowing the enemy to take over our lives, we are in hell.
Last night I was thinking about this message when I received a phone call from Pennsylvania. My best friend, Paula, had just had open heart surgery - a double bypass. When I first heard the news, my flesh wanted to rise up, and tears came to my eyes. But then the Holy Spirit rose up in me, and I was rejoicing because:
  • first of all, what is God doing in this situation? And
  • secondly, I am rejoicing because the word says we shall live and not die and I am claiming and decreeing that over her life right now.
  • Also by Jesus’ stripes she is healed (Isaiah 53:5). We have to claim those things over our lives and the lives of others.
We know that when Rachel goes back to the doctor, she will already be healed, but she had to go through a process, and there is a message in all of this.

As I was looking at this chart below, the Holy Spirit directed me: If we be-live or be-lie. there is a separation in the “Living Church” and the “Dead Church” (or religion). We have to understand where we are and who we are dealing with. These things came to mind:

1. In our past life or the “old teachings”, we said “streets of gold”, but it says there is one street, not streets. Revelation 21:21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. Revelation 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Even when I looked it up in Google (which I sometimes do when I know the scripture but can’t recall where it is located), one reference said “streets” so I then found it in the scripture to get the correct wording. We have to know the Word. 2. Fruit - We thought it was an apple because that is what we were taught, but there is no mention of an apple that the woman ate. There was a fruit, and that fruit in Genesis was a lie. Genesis 3:2-6 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. This tells us that the serpent said we could eat the fruit, but we have to remember that the serpent was a liar or be-lie. He is a lie so we have to know what is truth. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21: Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. This talks about strife, hatred, murders, etc. That is what the serpent was telling the woman (woman represents the church) in this scripture. Also read about the fruit of the spirit: Galatians 5:22-24 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. The first 3 verses of Galatians 5:19-20 sound like a lie - witchcraft, hatred, idolatry, murders, drunkenness. The verses of Galatians 5:22-23 (the fruit of the spirit) sound like truth - goodness - love, joy, peace, gentleness, meekness, temperance. That’s what God says that we have to have - love. 3. We are God. That doesn’t mean that we exalt ourselves above El Elyon, the most High God. John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? Psalm 82:1-6 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. 2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. 3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. 4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. 5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. We are gods when we get to the point when we know who we are in Christ and who Christ is in us. There is a friend-ship, servant-ship, relation-ship, and then you move into son-ship and god-ship. There are levels in God that we have to move through. But religion, or the lie, is “we are not gods”. We don’t exalt ourselves above God. We know He is the ultimate God, but He is in us. He has given us all power to cast out demons; lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:16-18). When people are praying, they say they are asking God for healing for that illness, but if you knew who you were, you could go and lay hands on them and speak over them. Religion is letting the pastor go all the time as if they have all the power. But we all have to come to a point where we know that we have just as much power because the power is given equally to us. We have to know who we are. John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do. 4. Jesus is Come. He is in Us! The lie which we have been told is that Jesus is coming soon. 1 John 4:2-6 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. ...the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error: we have to know what the word says. He has already come, and He is one spirit; one body; the body of Christ with many members (1 Corinthians 12:12-13). 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. Christ is the head of the body the Church (Colossians 1:18). Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. When He is the head of the body, then we are all one. Many members, yet all have a part in the body. 1 Corinthians 12:27 You are the body of Christ, and members in particular. We have a hard time conceptualizing this in the human mind - many members in one body. We have many members (arms, legs, feet, etc.). We have to move into that spirit realm so we understand and know what God is telling us. God the Father, Jesus Christ the son, and the Holy Spirit are all one spirit and that spirit dwells within us. John 17:21 Jesus’ awesome prayer for the church. That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. He is within you. When I see you, I see Jesus. We have to get to that point. 1 John 4:17 As he is, so are we, in this world. 5. Power given - The lie was “you don’t have power”, but the word says: Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power. Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things (it doesn’t say “some”) through Christ which strengtheneth me. We can overcome anything. That’s why God said “Only Believe”. My flesh wanted to rise up last night when I got the phone call, and I wanted to go home. But I can speak over her because the Word is traveling by the Spirit of God. In Luke 7:1-10 in relation to the Centurion’s son, Jesus Himself never entered his house but at Jesus’ Word, he was healed! Luke 7:7 But say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. We have to know that. Will I go see her when I go home? Sure, but my assignment this morning was to bring this message. 6. Healing – Religion says, “You can’t heal anyone” is a lie. Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
That’s why we have to know the word of God. It doesn’t matter what it may look like in the natural, but whose report are you going to believe. Only Believe. “Only” meaning a few. Many are called but only a few believe. Matthew 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few are chosen. 7. Zoe - we have been told by the lie of the enemy that we have to die to be with Jesus; always waiting. But when we come into the life, and we understand truth, and let the Holy Spirit dwell in us and begin to teach us. He begins to take us to the higher realms of spiritual elevation and dimensions in Him. He will show you things that you have never seen before. I have looked at the word “believe” a long time and had never seen what He gave me this weekend. Zoe – that eternal life; everlasting life. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Is that not what the devil is doing? Jesus said I am come that they might have life (that everlasting life), and that they might have it more abundantly. John 3:15-16 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish (die), but have everlasting life.
...perish means to die. So we should not die but have everlasting life. So why are we taught that we have to die? Yes, people are dying all around us because they don’t know the word - not the logos. They don’t know the living word; the rhema word. You have to become the living word. You can know the word, but if you don’t accept the word, that’s why the message is “Only Believe”.
8. Believe - belief; the Holy Spirit will scramble the words around for you. He’ll chop words apart and break it down to you. Belief = Be Life. Unbelief = death. That part of “only” talks about few. Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (those sitting waiting for Jesus to come) 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it (those that know that Jesus is come already). The narrow gate is where everything has to be stripped off of you. Not everything that we have been taught is wrong, but a lot of it was so we have to relearn the word again. We were taught about Jesus, but when you get to know Him personally, it is a different story. He becomes your story. Here are the synonyms for “only”: incomparable; matchless; unequaled; unmatched; unparalleled; unrivaled; unsurpassed. Is that not what God is; that’s what Jesus is to us? Jesus, the Christ! We have to move from Jesus to the Christ. Jesus was that living word; living flesh who was God in flesh form. When He died, He sent the Holy Spirit who is the Comforter. John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever.
Jesus was the Holy Comforter! But when Jesus died, He went to the grave and He rose, but He is in us today because He came in the form of His Holy Spirit. John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
And He did at Pentecost and gave Himself as a universal gift to all who would receive Him, then, now, and forever! So He is in each one of us; many members; one body; the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being may, are one body: so also is CHRIST! One of the scriptures I looked up
.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
If God can’t lie (and this is what He is telling us), then what is the lie? The “lie” is listening to the enemy. Belief is based in the mind. Everything starts in the mind. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Evangelist Burton taught us that believing and faith go hand in hand. We can’t have one without the other. If we don’t believe, we can’t have faith. If we have faith, we are going to believe. The Greek word for believe is pisteuo which means to have faith in; commit to one’s trust. It also means not just to believe but also to be persuaded; to place confidence in or trust; to rely upon one’s word. Faith is persuasion; strong conviction; a belief and assurance; a persuaded or bringing about of a change in mind. Our mind has to change to what the truth of the word is. John 8:31 You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Are you going to believe or be-life? Or are you going to doubt? Only Believe! ~ Apostle Carol Huntsman
