You Can't Miss It!

Psalms 37:23 (KJV)  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:  and he delighteth in his way.

The book of Psalms is the 19th book of the bible. It depicts Christ “As Our All in All.”  Psalms has 150 divisions, 2461 verses, and 43,743 words.

When we hear God say that our steps are ordered, we need to take those words at face value.  God is literally saying that He has the entire course of our lives mapped out, and by serving Him, we can embrace that course.
Sure, there are times when we make mistakes and wonder how we will ever recover, but God isn’t taken off guard.  Our mistakes or simple oversights may create detours, but they don’t take us out of God’s plan as long as we continue to serve Him.
God gets us right back where we need to be even when we feel like we have totally blown it.  And even when we haven’t blown it and are just trying to walk out our future, we need to rest assured that God has it all prepared.
So rest in the fact that you are not going to miss your breakthrough or end up out of His will somehow.  But I come to tell you, “The safest place in the whole wide world is in the Will of God.”
Even if you feel that you don’t know what to do today or what the outcome of the future looks like, God is ordering your steps for a prosperous and fruitful outcome.  You can’t miss it!
You will enjoy His plan of blessings and your life will stay on course.  You can’t miss it!

In Psalm 37:23, the psalmist says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.  As I looked at this particular verse, I was enlightened by the Holy Spirit on the many things that you can say in Psalm 37:23.

In Psalm 37:23, you can say:

*The steps of a Christian man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord.

*The steps of a Saved man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord.

*The steps of a Sanctified man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord.

*The steps of a Holy Ghost-filled man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord.

*The steps of an Anointed man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord.
*The steps of a man (or woman) who is Called and Ordained by God are ordered by the Lord

You Can’t Miss It……If you’re in the Master’s Plan.
Why????
  • John 15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
  • Psalms 37:23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:  and he delighteth in his way.

I guess some of you are wondering what makes a man (or woman) become a good man (or good woman)?
Webster defines good as being morally excellent; virtuous; righteous; pious: a good man (or good woman).  It also says satisfactory in quality, quantity, or degree; a good teacher; good health.
In the Hebrew, the word good comes from the Hebrew word towb (tobe), meaning good; favorable; festive; pleasing; pleasant; well; better; right; best.
God is described as One who is “good” or One who gives “delight” and “pleasure”.
  • Psalms 73:28  But it is good for me to draw near to God:  I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works
God’s good word promises life in the face of oppression and uncertainty:
  • 1st King 8:56  There hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
Elsewhere towb is applied to an evaluation of one’s well-being or of the well-being of a situation or things.  Remember the definitions as well; pleasant; right; best.
  • Genesis 1:4  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
God Himself is Light so the light had already been put into place.  God is calling these things back.

  • Genesis 1:2-3  And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (people).
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

That word “light” is the Hebrew word owr (ore) so God was now giving the light an assignment.

The light, the firmament, the waters, the earth, the darkness, and all other things mentioned here were already in existence but had been thrown into chaos, and the laws which previously governed them had been made void.

Keep in mind, God did the creating in Genesis 1:1.  Between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, there had been worlds in existence.  But because of rebellion against Elohim, the Creator God, the people fell into a chaotic (disorder; confusion; abyss; void) condition.  In verse Genesis 1:3, God said, Let there be”.  He had already “created”; now He was “letting” [allowing; permitting; causing] what had been created to be replenished [refilled; restocked; renewed]!

The purpose for their existence (the morning stars, sons of God, those ruling over the creation) had been annulled by sin, but God Himself was ready to replenish or restore the earth to perfection so He just said “Let there be”.  He said Let there be light or let there be owr, meaning let there be illumination or luminaries (ones that can enlighten mankind).

What is illumination?  It is an intensity of “light”.  Light in God’s language is “knowledge” and “understanding”!  God was bringing these people that had become void of His Spirit, His mind, wisdom, dominion, authority, and power back to this place.  The assignment of the “light” (the mind) of God was to cause these people (luminaries, the waters) to again be enlightened so that they could, in essence, again enlighten mankind or others and bring them into the place in God that they were, which was a place of power”!  The “waters” God’s Spirit moved upon were not the waters of the Mediterranean or the Atlantic but the waters” were “people”.
  • Revelation 17:15  The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

God was now providing them with understanding spiritually and intellectually by enlightening them.  In other words, He was saying “Let there be luminaries” walking in the revelation of who I am in them and who they are in me, with my wisdom, knowledge, authority and power.  A luminary is defined as a notable person; one who can enlighten mankind.

These messengers had been ruling and reigning with God in the beginning, but they fell into a chaotic state.
  • Jude 6  And the angels (messengers) which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

God said “I’m going to call them back.  I’m going to put my mind in them”.  He is doing the same thing with us now.
  • Romans 12:2  Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  • 1 Corinthians 2:16  But we have the mind of Christ.
  • Philippians 2:5  Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.
  • 1 Peter 1:13  Gird up the loins of your mind.

In Genesis 1:3 God was saying, “Let there be happiness”!  Let the knowledge, wisdom, dominion, authority, and power he had given his people return to his creation or creatures!

In the latter part of Genesis 1:3  ...and there was light, there were “luminaries”- these notable people; those who could enlighten mankind; those who could do what the MORNING STARS AND “SONS OF GOD had been doing in Genesis 1:1, and before the darkness set in in Genesis 1:2 - who were ruling and reigning over the earth with dominion, authority and power that God had given them.

  • Job 38:4, 6-7  God speaks to Job:
4  Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?  declare, if thou hast understanding.
6  Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened?  or who laid the corner stone thereof;
7  When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

By the way, those foundations are not cement blocks that the “earth” is sitting on.  It’s the power of God that has the earth, other planets, sun, moon, stars, etc, suspended in its place.  These were the yacads that God caused to sit down together with Him in the beginning that He counselled, established, ordained, appointed, and put them in a position of dominion, authority, and power to be in charge of the creation.  These were God’s “edens” – eh’den (in the sense of strength; a basis of a building; God’s body of people; His “church”;called out ones.  His “adown- awdone’, meaning to rule; sovereign. These are the definitions of foundations”.  Synonyms for “sovereign” are:  monarch; ruler; potentate; king; queen; authority.  These “foundations” were people God had placed in a position of authority!  These foundations” had been fastened to Jesus Christ (the Chief Corner Stone), but they got off “course” and fell into chaos.
  • Psalm 82:5  They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness:  all the foundations of the earth are out of course!

  • Genesis 1:4  And God saw (He considered what He was seeing; He observed it; He became acquainted with it; He examined it; He approved of it) the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.  He made a difference between the darkness and the light.

There is a difference now between the “light” and the “darkness”.

  • Genesis 1:5  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
Remember, the “night” or “darkness” (ignorance; destruction; misery; death), is a twisting away from the “light” or “day” (knowledge; wisdom; peace; divine health; eternal life).

  • Isaiah 5:20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
  • Isaiah 5:30:  And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.

You Can’t Miss It…..People of God…….Put on your kingdom glasses!!!!

There was a separation of the people - the sheep and the goats (Matthew 25:32); those above the firmament and those beneath the firmament (Genesis 1:7); Christians (sheep) from religious people (goats).
There was a difference between the darkness and the light.  The light he called day (love, life, knowledge, peace, power); the darkness (hate, death, ignorance, torment).

In God’s “day”, the day is not just in reference to the daylight hours, and “night” is not just in reference to the dark hours.  But it is in relation to a people and where they are in their mind or thought processes.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:5  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day:  we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
As I stated before, even if you feel that you don’t know what to do today or what the outcome of the future looks like, God is ordering your steps for a prosperous and fruitful outcome. YOU CAN’T MISS IT!

Look people of God!!!  A man (or woman) does not become good just because he (or she) does not use drugs, get drunk on alcohol, or chase women, or the women chase men.  A man (or woman) does not become a good man (or woman) just because he (or she) has money in the bank, or he (or she) has lots of degrees behind his (or her) name.

A man (or woman) does not become good by his (or her) own goodness because Isaiah 64:6 says that our own goodness or our own righteousness is nothing but a filthy rag before the Lord.
  • Psalm 100:5 says, “For the Lord is good, his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth to all generations.”
Since the Lord is good all the time, and all the time The Lord is good, then it is the Lord that makes a man a good man and a woman a good woman.  And the Lord makes a man to become a good man when the man believes and receives Jesus Christ as His personal Lord and Savior.  And the Lord makes a woman become a good woman when the woman believes and receives Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

  • Romans 10:9  If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
  • II Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
You see when a man gives his life to Jesus Christ, trusting in Him for His salvation, he becomes a new man in Christ. And a new man in Christ is also a good man.

Psalm 37:3  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

“What does it mean that the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD.”

1. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord means that the steps of a good man are directed by the Lord.

  • Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
2. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord means that the steps of a good man are guided by the Lord.
  • Psalm 48:14  For this God is our God forever and ever: He will be our guide even unto (not until) death.

3. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord means that the steps of a good man are led by the Lord.
  • Psalm 25:5 says, “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me; for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”

So to have your steps ordered by the Lord means:
1.To be directed by the Lord
2.To be guided by the Lord
3.To be led by the Lord

But for the Lord to direct your steps, guide your steps, or to lead you in the way you should go, there are some things we must do:

1. First of all, if we want the Lord to order our steps, we must have faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
2. Secondly, if we want our steps to be ordered by the Lord, we must be in prayer daily.
  • Luke 18:1  And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.
  • 1 Thessalonian 5:17  Pray without ceasing.
  • Jeremiah 33:3  Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

3. Thirdly if we want our steps ordered by the Lord, we must believe, read, study, meditate and obey the Word of God.
  • Psalm 119:133  Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

4. Fourthly, if you want the Lord to order your steps, you must be led and filled with the Holy Ghost.
  • Romans 8:14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

  • Ephesians 5:18  And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.

Psalms 37:23  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:  and he delighteth in his way.
You see, when you allow the Lord to order your steps, there will be peace.

When you allow the Lord to order your steps, there will be joy.

When you allow the Lord to order your steps, there will be power.

When you allow the Lord to order your steps, there will be victory.

When you allow the Lord to order your steps, you have something to shout about because when He orders your steps, you will be blessed coming in and going out; you will be blessed in the city and in the field; you will be the head and not the tail; you will be above only and not beneath (Deuteronomy 28).
And when God blesses you like that, you ought to praise God with a joyful noise!!!!!!!

Now it must be understood that having your steps ordered by the Lord does not mean that everything will be rosy and smooth for you all the time.  While the Lord is ordering your steps, there will be times you will face some problems, obstacles, setbacks, disappointments, heartbreaks and failures, but in all things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:37).
  • 2 Timothy 3:11  Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured:  but out of them all, the Lord delivered me!

Psalm 37:23-24  The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and he delighteth in his way though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.

Every once in awhile, a good man will get side-tracked and sin.  Throughout the Bible, we see there were many good men who got sidetracked and messed up.
For example, Noah was a good man, but he got drunk.
Moses was a good man, but he killed a man.
King David was a good man, but he committed adultery.
Peter was a good man, but he cussed somebody out; (when they said he was with Jesus).
And guess what?
You too have been side-tracked, messed up, and cussed at a few times!  Amen!
  • Romans 3:23  For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
But the good thing is that when we messed up and sinned, God did not utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
God uses the blood of Jesus Christ to clean us up, and He uses the power of the Holy Spirit to put us back together again.  No matter how bad you may have messed up, Jesus Christ is able to straighten up your life!!  Hallelujah!!!
But through it all - through sunshine and rain - while the Lord is ordering your steps, just know and believe that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).
Those situations didn’t come to destroy or break you but to strengthen you for a great comeback!!!
The word says that the blessings of Abraham are mine (Galatians 3:14).  God told Abraham to walk up and down through the valley and land.  Wherever Abram sat his feet God gave it to him. (Genesis 13:14-18)
  • Genesis 13:17  Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
You have to believe and know that God is able to order your steps through your problems, through your disappointments, through your heartbreaks, through your pain, or whatever.
Just know and believe that no matter what you face in this life, if you allow the Lord to order your steps, You Can’t Miss It…….you will have the victory!!!!!
Clap Your Hands and Give God The Highest Praise!!!!
