THE MIND OF MAN

In the Word of God Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:  this is the first commandment.  (Matthew 22:37)

As we obey God and love Him with all these areas, I believe we are sure to be total overcomers against all the wiles of the enemy.

There is a saying, “The mind is a terrible thing to waste!” Oh how true these words are!  We have to constantly guard our minds with the Word of God to keep it safe from the adversary.  We guard it through study, meditation, praise, worship, and keeping it stayed on the Lord to have His perfect peace.  (Isaiah 26:3)

The mind in Webster is defined as the element of a human being which controls perception, thought, feeling, memory, and imagination. The synonym for mind is consciousness, understanding, intellect, purpose, intention, opinion, will, and desire.

We clearly see all of these things - the definition and synonyms of the word mind -functioning in the process of our daily living.

But now that we’ve come into the revelation or understanding that we are more than just “mere men” (because we are gods), we must “think” as our God thinks!  St. John 4:24: “God is a Spirit!”  So for us to understand Him, we must do so with a spiritual mind! 

1 Corinthians 2:14: “The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:  for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Speaking of the natural man this is the psuchikos’ (sensitive or sensual man which leans toward the soulish realm and operates through emotions).  This man (male & female) does what appeases or pleases the flesh or causes the carnal man to rejoice.  But God may not be pleased with some of the things we may say or do in relation to what John mentioned in 1 John 2:16. 

There are many other scriptures that can be used to describe things we may do that don’t please God.  This scripture stands out because these are  the areas the serpent tapped into Genesis chapter three to cause the Woman to transgress and in turn become the down-fall of mankind through the Adam race of people!  

1 John 2:16: “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

 This scripture, 1 John 2:16, allows us to see the areas the “serpent” (devil; adversary; accuser) caused the Woman to fall prey to in Genesis 3:6. But be encouraged because in Matthew chapter four, when Jesus was led or driven by the Spirit of God into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil, He conquered in all of those areas!! This lets us know that we too can overcome in these areas as well!!  That’s good news!!!

God said in His Word, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  (Isaiah 55:8-9.)

But God wants us to think with His mind!!  “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him?  But we have the mind of Christ!”  (1Corinthians 2:16)

This word MIND is the Greek word nous, (intellect, i.e. divine or human, in thought, feeling, or will; understanding).

This definition is not referring to the “human” mind only but also the divine mind of God Himself!  When we have “divine intellect,” we have the power of the mind to not only understand knowledge but also to accept knowledge!!  The divine MIND of God causes us to operate in the spiritual realm in thought (idea, belief, notion, opinion), feeling (endurance, fervor, ardor, zeal, passion, enthusiasm), and will (determination, intention, disposition, self-control, desire)!!

We have had enough of the “noose” of religious order!  A noose is a rope with a “loop” in it that’s secured with a “slipknot”, allowing it to decrease in size as the rope is pulled.  That’s what traditions of men will eventually do to you!  It will choke the very life of God out of you!  But the “NOUS” of Christ gives us life everlasting!

This is the mind and life Adam had in the beginning, being created in the image and likeness of God.  He, Adam (male & female), were the picture, reflection, likeness, figure, idea, concept, appearance, and representation of God Himself in the earth!

Let’s take a look at the mind set of Jesus according to Philippians 2:6, “Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.”  Jesus knew his relationship with his Father!  St. John 10:30 “I and my Father are one”!  This is the thought pattern we must attain to:  that we also are “one” with our Heavenly Father!  St. John 17:21: “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us”!

We must do Philippians 2:5-6, “Let this MIND be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:  who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God”!       

Though Jesus lived in the flesh as a man, he never lost sight of  his divinity!

Man’s fall came when the enemy interrupted his thought processes in relation to his divinity.  The serpent (whisperer; devil) told the Woman that in Genesis 3:5: “For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, THEN your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”  But the truth of the matter is that they were already gods, created in the image and likeness of God!!  Because the Woman (adulterous church system) ate the fruit, which was a lie of the enemy and not an apple, then Adam (male & female) ate also of the fruit, a lie.  They drifted from that which was the divine Mind of God back to that which was humanity (flesh or carnality).  They fell into a state of darkness (misery, ignorance, destruction and death)!

That same problem is working against “man” today!  He only sees himself as “human” and has failed to recognize or acknowledge his divinity or god-li-ness!

St. John 10:34 says "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?”

Psalm 82:6 “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High”!

Those that make it back to this place are categorized in the “Peter class”!  These are they that recognize or acknowledge their divinity!  1 John 4:17: “For as he is, so are we in this world”!  This happens not beyond the blue but right here and right now!!  These are the ones that recognize and acknowledge THE CHRIST!  Peter saw beyond the man Jesus; he saw THE CHRIST!!  Those that see “THE CHRIST” are those that get the keys to the kingdom of God!!

Matthew 16:16-17: "And Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona:  for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."

Matthew 16:18-19: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church:  and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.  And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven”!

Those “KEYS” are a badge of authority, dominion, and power!!  That’s what Adam had before he (male & female) fell!  But Jesus has restored it back to us!  He has reinstated our divinity!!  We must believe it, accept it, and walk in it!!

People of God, let us be transformed or metamorphe’o (changed into another form) into the form of God by renewing [anakaa’inosis (renovating)] of our mind [NOUS]! 

When something is renovated, it is renewed, restored, repaired, freshened, and purified from the inside!!  That is what we must do with our minds to know who we really are as God wants us to know and walk in our divine God-ship authority! 

Remember what the Word of God says in Jeremiah 31:33, “I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts.”  The word inward is qe’reb which is the thoughts and the center of one’s being!!  This word hearts is not the organ in your body, but it is the lebab’ that is defined as mind, understanding, and awareness.  In Hebrews 8:10, God’s Word states, “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts.”  This word mind  is dian’oia which is “DEEP THOUGHT!”  This kind of thinking goes below the surface and unravels the hidden mysteries of God!  The “hearts” is kardi’a which is also defined as one’s thoughts. 

1 Peter 1:13 “Gird up the loins of your MIND”!  Your spiritual “loins” can reproduce in you dian’oia (deep thought) and cause you to have the mind (nous) of Christ!!

Romans 12:2: “And be not conformed to this world:  but be ye transformed by the renewing of your MIND (nous), that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God”!
