The Obtained Inheritance - Part 1 of 2

This message about “The Obtained Inheritance” is written in 2 parts. Part 1 begins here.

Text: EPHESIANS 1:1-11 [Thompson Chain Study Bible – KJV]

I couldn’t just use the title “An Obtained Inheritance”. It had to be “The Obtained Inheritance” because THE makes the subject “Obtained Inheritance” definitive [conclusive; fixed; final]!! Because Christ is OUR ALL IN ALL! Every thing that we are and ever will be is because of Christ! Everything we get from our heavenly Father is in Christ! It’s assured, and we can have it RIGHT NOW!!

Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath [ekh'o or to hold, grip, grasp, control, possess] blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”! [in “the Christos’! –the Anointed One and His Anointing!]

Verse 11: “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will”!

As pertaining to “heritage”, it is that which comes to one by reason of birth; it is something allotted to or reserved for one.

I say “birth” because we are “sons of God!” St. John 1:11-13, “He came to his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”!

This word born means we were “genna’o” or produced by God! We were regenerated or re-“gene”-d by God. Our genes have been reformed spiritually, made or created anew, refreshed or restored, or revitalized or revived by the Anointed One and His Anointing!

This “heritage” also comes to one by death through Christ’s once and for all sacrifice!

Hebrews 9:15-17: “And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance! For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all whilst the testator liveth”!

But the testator has died, and the will of God [our inheritance] HAS BEEN AND IS ENFORCED!! It was enforced when he got up with all power!! And he has given us power [exousi’a - meaning in the sense of ability - privilege, freedom, force, mastery, strength, right, and authority], over all the power [dunamis or force] of the enemy!!

Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give unto you power [exousi’a], to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power [dunamis] of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”!

This POWER is an inheritance. We don’t have to die to go up yonder to get it; we can have it HERE AND NOW! Those that get the revelation of CHRIST will have the inheritance NOW!! It’s all by faith!

Keep in mind what Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 16:13-19! [Please read at your convenience]! Jesus asked his disciples the question, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” They answered what men thought. Then he asked them, “But whom say you that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art “the Christ”, the Son of the living God”!

Verse 17: Jesus said to him, “Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven”. Verses 18-19: “...thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

These KEYS [a badge of authority] are given to the” Peter class” [those that walk by faith and not by sight]; those who get the revelation of WHO CHRIST is; get the inheritance!!

In the middle of the word inheritance is “heir”! It’s the heir that gets the inheritance!

Galatians 4:6-7 “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ”.!

And because of the “birth” I spoke of previously, we are now positioned as sons!! We are positioned in Christ, and everything we need is in him! He is our inheritance!

Remember in Galatians 3:13-16, Paul wrote how Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, that “the blessing of Abraham might come on the gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the Spirit of the promise through faith”. That promise wasn’t made to Abraham and his seeds, it was made to Abraham and his seed!

Galatians 3:16: “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is CHRIST”!!

The blessing of Abraham has come through Christ that we might have the blessings!

It is reserved in heaven [the higher realms of spiritual elevation] and we can have it right now!!

1 Peter 1:3-4: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you”! NOT UP YONDER BUT TO THEM WHO GET THE REVEALED CHRIST NOW!!

Remember Peter who got the revelation of Christ; it was to him [the faith walkers] that the keys of the kingdom were/are given!!

This is an obtained inheritance! When something has been obtained it means you’ve acquired it already! It is already in your possession!
