HELP THOU MINE UNBELIEF!

Unbelief is the absence of faith!
Here is a father whose son is demon possessed, and he wants his son healed.  He had taken him to Jesus’ disciples, and they couldn’t deliver him.  So now he’s talking to Jesus Himself.  In Mark 9:22 he says to Jesus, “Ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him:  but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us”.  Verse 23  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Do you “believe” today?
Believe means to accept something as true!  Belief doesn’t require proof, just “acceptance”!
As we look at this passage of scripture, there is a man here who “believes” but at the same time has doubts!  He’s saying a lot in this statement.  Mark 9:24  And straightway the father cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Do you see yourself?  We have to get to the place that we believe God totally!
What does “unbelief” do?  We know in Matthew 13 that Jesus couldn’t do all He wanted because of it.  Even though great men and women of God had faith, there were still times of “doubt and unbelief”.
Abraham faced it when God told him Sarah would have a son.  He was looking at his age and the wife’s age.  Look how “unbelief” had the children of Israel in the wilderness forty years.  Gideon had doubts as to gaining victory over the Midianites.  In the New Testament, Thomas doubted the Lord was raised.  Today what are our “unbelief’s”?  There shouldn’t be any!  God said in Deuteronomy 7:9  Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.  Say Lord, “Help my unbelief”!
POWERFUL FAITH
Does God keep His promises or not?  Is God not a man that He should lie?  Has anything that God said or promised failed?  Then we as “sons of God” should have no place for “unbelief” in our Godly walk.
Our walk should be of “faith” and “power”!  Hebrews 11:6  Without faith it is impossible to please him.
Jesus comes to us as the “I AM” in situations we’re in.  Has He failed you at any time?  His power is not confined or limited by circumstances.  We are to trust that He always, not sometimes, but always acts in time, in His own way to accomplish a greater purpose.
With any situation you were in, did He fail you?  Say Lord, “Help my unbelief”!
“Faith has great power”, and it is a force that can be activated and put to use in any situation.  “Faith” is complete trust and confidence in someone or something.  “Faith” means being sure of the things we hope for knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.  Say Lord, “Help my unbelief”!
We need to give that unbelief a swift kick back to the pit of hell from which it came.  We should already be at a place in God that we’re doing those “’greater works”, doing those exploits He has equipped us to do!  It’s time to get off grumbling street and move onto Welcome Avenue.  Somebody say, “Help my unbelief”!
Either God is who He says He is or not.  Either we are going to believe Him or we are not.  Either we’re going to trust Him or not.  Either we’re going to stand on His Word or fall for anything.  Either we’re going to love Him or leave Him.  Either we’re going to be hot or we’re going to be cold.  Either we’re going to serve Him whole-heartedly or serve Him half-heartedly.  What’s it going to be?  It’s time to make up our minds!  Say Lord “Help my unbelief, and thank you for powerful faith”!
We already know we’re past due!  What’s the hold up?  What’s keeping you from being about your Father’s business?  What’s the delay?  Are you scared or afraid?  Or are you just plain slothful?  Are you lazy?  Or are you just too busy with everything and everybody else?  Do you doubt His love?  Do you doubt His power?  Do you doubt His Word?  Say Lord, “Help my unbelief, and thank you for powerful faith”!
Powerful faith will bring down all barriers to ashes.  Powerful faith will subdue kingdoms unlocking all the power of God.  God has filled us with His power and has anointed us!  We have His Word!  He has commanded us to go”!  Do you believe that?  Say God “Help my unbelief and thank you for powerful faith”!
How can your faith grow?
(1) By doing!  As you go and do.  Philippians 4:13  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
(2) Believing it will grow.  What did He say to the disciples in the storm?  Mark 4:40: And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful?  how is it that ye have no faith?  Luke 8:25  And he said unto them, Where is your faith?  We must have faith as a grain of mustard seed.  Jesus is not referring to the “size” of the mustard seed but the “quality” of the mustard seed.  Matthew 17:20: And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief:  for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.  Luke 17:6  And the Lord said, “If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you”.
In relation to the quality of a mustard seed”, it is a very small seed, but in maturity it has large thick leaves and has a deep green color.  It can grow to the height of six feet or more.  It’s used as a vegetable which is very high in vitamin A, B, and C.  The “oil” contained in the mustard seed gives the substance its high flavor.  It also makes mustard a valuable household remedy.  It has a laxative effect and can be used to induce vomiting.  It can also be used in a plaster to relieve pain. This explains what the natural mustard seed does. What about our "mustard seed faith" when we activate it?

How else can our faith grow?
(3) Associating with others.  “Birds of a feather flock together”!    Luke 17:37  And he said unto them, “Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together”.  The “eagles” are the believers who have put on Christ’s mind and are soaring in heights of victory!!!
REMEMBER, “POWERFUL FAITH” RECEIVES THE IMPOSSIBLE, BELIEVES THE INCREDIBLE, AND SEES THE INVISIBLE!
It’s the outstretched hand of the soul taking what Christ offers!  Say, “Help my unbelief and thank you Lord for powerful faith”!
