TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 3:10
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.
This Epistle shows Christ as our “Joy” [rejoicing; pleasure; delight].
WHO IS CHRIST? “CHRIST” is the very embodiment or form of God! “CHRIST” is the thought of God which unfolds into the perfect “Man”, Jesus Christ! “CHRIST” is the Anointed One, and Jesus is the manifestation of the “CHRIST”!
The first time the name “JEHOVAH” was used in the scripture was in Genesis 2:4: These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD (Jehovah) God made the earth and the heavens.
Jehovah is defined as “self-Existent or Eternal”. It goes to another root word hayah’, meaning to exist (i.e. be or become), come to pass; altogether; accomplish; like. Then it comes from another root word hava’, meaning to breathe; to be (in the sense of existence); be thou. Hayah’ strongly and perfectly indicates the very “being” or “presence” of a “person”! When “self” is injected as a noun, the synonyms for it are I; being, essence; personality; individuality; persona; mind; inner man or woman. The “CHRIST” within us is the “I AM” that dwells on the inside of us!!
The prophecy of the Messiah was made in Daniel 9:25-26 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. This was a prophecy of the coming or “visible” manifestation of the “I AM” or “CHRIST” in the person of “JESUS CHRIST” Himself in “flesh form”, or God in the flesh!!!!
This was not the first time the “I AM” showed Himself! He did it through Jesus because Jesus was made the sacrifice to redeem mankind, but God has shown Himself as “I AM” before in flesh form! As stated above, he manifested Himself in the LORD God in flesh form in Genesis 2:4! He manifested Himself in Moses as “I AM”!! Exodus 3:13-14 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Verse 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. Moses was the “I AM” God that delivered the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage! Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. God is still manifesting Himself as “I AM” today in you and me!
JESUS CHRIST is the revelation of the Father in flesh form: John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God! Verse 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us! Hebrews 1:1-3 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners, spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.
WHO IS CHRIST?
HE WAS THE “ROCK”
1 Corinthians 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of the spiritual ROCK that followed them: and that ROCK WAS CHRIST!
HE WAS THE “STONE”
Daniel 2:34-35 He was the STONE that was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the STONE that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
He is the STONE the builders rejected!
Mark 12:10 And have ye not read this scripture; The STONE which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner. (Luke 20:17)
1 Peter 2:6-7 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner STONE, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the STONE which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner. Verse 8 And a STONE of stumbling, and a ROCK of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
This “STONE” is “CHRIST” who is God’s Kingdom that is now established in the earth in and through His people.
- In His people because the “Kingdom” of God is within us! Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Romans 14:17 For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. 1 Corinthians 4:20 For the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
2. Through His people because we are His kingdom on the earth, not up beyond the blue!
Exodus 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. These are the words
which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
We, the believers in Jesus Christ, the “sons of God”, are now God’s Israel - not the Israel in the Middle East! In Hebrew, Israel means “he will rule as God”; who prevails with God; dominion with God! We are God’s “kings” and “priests” in and on the earth now!! 1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Verse 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Verse 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Revelation 1:6: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on (over) the earth. Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
This is the “kingdom” Isaiah prophesied about: Isaiah 2:1-2 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain [kingdom] of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. Through the preaching of the fullness of the “gospel of the kingdom of God” in us, those that are receiving it are moving into this place of dominion, authority, and power in Christ Jesus because we know that’s where it is and He is in us!!!
CHRIST IS THE MOUNTAIN, ROCK, AND STONE that was cut out without hands which has smitten and is smiting the “image” (the systems of men) portrayed as the “beast” with seven heads in the book of Revelation. These are Kingdoms that He (Christ, the STONE) has already destroyed and shall destroy the eighth, which is now in existence, that hath hold of God’s people now! But we shall be loosed from the bondages of the systems of men by the “ANOINTED ONE”, JESUS THE CHRIST!! Because it is the “anointing” that removes burdens and destroys yokes!!! Isaiah 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing!
GOD’S KINGDOM IS RULING AND REIGNING IN AND ON THE EARTH, RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW!!!
We are talking about “THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST”, but I felt “CHRIST” had to be explained first.
“THE POWER” of the RESURRECTED CHRIST” gives us “ETERNAL Life”!
The word “POWER” in our main scripture Philippians 3:10 is from the Greek word du’namis, meaning force; specifically miraculous power (usually, a miracle itself); mighty work; strength; might; ability; to be able or possible. There are other root words for the word “power” depending on its usage: exousi’a, denoting “authority”; arche’, dealing with governmental power; kra’tos, means vigor; dominion, etc.
But with “dunamis”, we’re talking about the force or miracle working power of the “resurrected Christ”!
Remember this: THE “RESURRECTION” IS NOT AN EVENT!! THE “RESURRECTION” IS A “PERSON”, THE “MAN JESUS CHRIST”!!! John 11:25 Jesus said unto her (Martha), I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.
This word “resurrection” is the root word anas’tasis, which is a standing up again, a resurrection from death, a (moral) recovery (of spiritual truth), rising again; raised to life again. This “raising to life again” isn’t just in relation to people that are in the graves out in the graveyards, but there are many walking around breathing who have not the “life” of Christ! These are the ones God wants “raised” or resurrected by the “power “of CHRIST”! Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins; Vs 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Vs 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened (made alive) us together with CHRIST, (by grace ye are saved); Vs 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in CHRIST JESUS.
Yes, God hath raised us up from the dead already through Jesus Christ!! Raised, sunegeiro, meaning to rouse from death in company with Christ! This means He has spiritually revived [reanimated, refreshed, brought back, reestablished, perked] us already with eternal life by Christ Jesus!!!
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
That’s what happened in the beginning in the book of Genesis according to Jude 6 And the angels (messengers) which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation. These were the “morning stars, sons of God, the Adam race of people”, who had power with God, and were ruling and reigning over the creation but lost their place of dominion through disobedience! They moved from that which pertained to spirit to that which pertained to flesh or carnality; from life to death; from light to darkness; from immortality to mortality; from incorruption to corruption. Though the creation fell, God had a plan to restore it through Christ Jesus and did! 2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself.
HOW IS THIS RESURRECTION POWER ACCOMPLISHED?
THROUGH JESUS CHRIST: John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. This is not in that “great getting up” morning for the judgment as religion teaches; it is happening now!
These aren’t the “graves” out in the cemeteries but the ones people are living in: Luke 11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye are like unto whited sepulchers, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
Psalm 141:7 Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.
We must and can walk out of the “graves” (that are holding us captive to carnality, sin, and death), so that we can walk in the newness of “life eternal”!!
Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
1 Corinthians 15:53-54 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
This can happen “NOW” without you dying and flying off to heaven! It can happen for us right here and right now!!!
2 Corinthians 4:11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh!!!
John 5:24-25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead (not those in the grave yard) shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our “vile” body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. (Now, not out in the blue!)
THE POWER OF THE RESURRRECTED CHRIST:
Transforms us: Romans 12:2 Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
One’s mind must go through a metamorphosis for the transformation to take place!! When the “mind” has changed from that which is carnality to that which is spirituality, it restores the “total man”: heart, soul, and body as well! The change starts in the “mind”! Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
That word “repentance” comes from a root word which means to “think differently” or change one’s mind! We must put on Christ’s mind, think like He did, so that we can do what He said we could do! Philippians 2:5-6 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God.
THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST:
Will bring us out of the “darkness into His marvelous light”!
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness [skot’os- obscurity; ignorance; destruction; ruin of the traditions of men] into his marvelous light [phos – illumination; clarity of the revelation knowledge of who He is in us and who we are in Him]!!
2 Timothy 1:9-10 Who hath (already) saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath (already) abolished death, and hath (already) brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Ephesians 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
This word “light” is from the word epiphau’o, meaning to illuminate or to make clear; to provide with understanding; spiritually or intellectually enlightened.
God wants us to “see Him as He is”! 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, [not out in the sky, but when He appears in you] we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is! I’m seeing Him as He is now because when I see you, I see Him!! 1 John 4:17 As he is, so are we in this world!
We’ve got to get rid of the dark glass of religious order of wanting to go up yonder to see the Lord, He is right here living in His people, and we must see Him in each other!! 1 Corinthians 13:12 Now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. We must see ourselves as God see us and also see Him the way He wants us to see Him - now! Vs 10 When that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. The “perfect One” is come! And for those who grasp the revelation of the Christ, we see Him as He is in His people!! We are Him in the earth! We are His flesh and His bones, His body in the earth, of which He is the Head! Ephesians 5:30 We are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church.
Remember Peter in Matthew 16, and how he saw beyond the “flesh man Jesus” and saw “the CHRIST”? That’s how we must see Him now, by the Spirit, and we must know one another by the spirit!!
2 Corinthian 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. We must know Him and one another by the “spirit”!!!
THE “RESURRECTION” IS NOT A FUTURE EVENT:
It takes place now: John 5:25 Verily, verily I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead (not those in the grave yard, but those walking around “breathing”) shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
The “POWER OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST” delivers us from spiritual and physical death:
“SPIRITUAL”: Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life! When He got up we got up with Him! Get this revelation: Jesus was and is the “Head” – it was the “Head” that went to the Cross, died, and was resurrected! So when the “Head” got up, the “body” got up with the “Head”!!! HALLELUJAH!!!
“PHYSICAL”: Romans 6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Sin brought on death! Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death.
Jesus conquered “sin” and “death” in his “flesh body” so that we could overcome it in our flesh bodies. Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Verse 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.
So when we take on the “new birth” - not just being saved - we can live above sin in these flesh bodies God has given us. 1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born (not just saved) of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born (not just saved) of God!
Romans 6:23 The gift of God is eternal life!
Jesus conquered sin, death, hell and the grave! So through the “new birth”, we conquer sin, don’t have to live in hellish conditions, and do not have to experience death or the grave!!
1 Corinthians 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump (the message of the gospel of the kingdom that’s sounding now that the fullness of Christ is resident within us right here and right now, and not beyond the blue): for the trump (fullness of the message of the kingdom resident in us) shall sound (it’s sounding now and has been from the book of Genesis), and the dead shall be raised (not in some great getting-up morning, but the dead are being raised right now through the preaching of the fullness of the gospel) incorruptible, and we shall be changed (those getting the revelation of CHRIST in us now in HIS fullness are being changed now)!! Verse 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. It’s happening right now, not up beyond the blue! Verse 54 So when (right now) this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. Verse 55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? This can and is happening now for those who accept the “truth” of the fullness of the Word of God resident within us NOW!!!
2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
The word “delusion” is from the root word “plane (plan’-ay), meaning fraudulence; a straying from that which is godly; go astray; seduce; wander; be out of the way. It comes from another root word plan’os, meaning, an impostor or misleader. Mind you, that scripture didn’t say that the devil would do this, but God would do it. He will send you someone who will preach and teach to you what you want to hear: a “one of these days” messenger when you get to heaven, “up there”, you overcome! But what you need to hear is the truth that we can overcome all the workings of the devil right here and right now! We can live eternally right now! We are already in the heavenlies right now in Christ Jesus! We can walk in divine health and perfect peace right here and right now!! We can have a new body right here and right now!! We don’t have to die, but we can live!!! We can live sin free right here and right now!!!
2 Corinthians 4:11 For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
JESUS DECLARED THAT HE WAS “THE RESURRECTION” EVEN BEFORE HE WAS RESURRECTED!!!
THIS IS THE “RESULT” OF “THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST”:
- Speak to a dead body and bring it forth out of the grave! John 11
- Rebuke the wind and say to the sea, “Peace be still”! Matthew 8:26-27; Mark 4:39
Jesus did these things before His resurrection, but we too can do these things when “CHRIST IS RESURRECTED” within us!!! John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do.
When “CHRIST” is “RESURRECTED” within us, His “power” will also be manifested in this manner:
- Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
- Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
PEOPLE OF GOD, LET “THE POWER OF THE RESURRECTED CHRIST” BE MANIFESTED IN AND THROUGH YOU FOR HIS GLORY!!!!
