SUBTOPIC: “CHILDREN OF GOD” PRIME THE PUMP!
MATTHEW 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Verse 14 Ye are the “light” (to shine, make manifest, to appear, evident, to give light as seen by the eye) of the world (orderly arrangement of men; the false church system).
Verse 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (collectively as your household or individually, your temple, the abode of God which consist of the total man: mind, soul, heart, and body).
First of all let’s take a look at the word “pump”. When you think of “pump”, it can be described in several different illustrations. There’s the athlete or body-builder who uses weight to build up and tone his or her muscles with heavy bar bells to develop the body for competition. In this performance, there are three power lifts: (1) Bench press; (2) Deep knee bends or squats; and (3) Dead weight lifts.
Secondly, let’s take a look at another kind of “pump”, “light or electric current”. This “pump” is any medium or device used for raising atoms to an excited state, and it provides lasers with the energy to raise atoms in its active medium or excited state. More simply said, “Lasers” are pumped by a light source or electric current to raise atoms to an excited state. If a light source or an electric current can raise an atom to an excited state to move it from one orbit to another orbit, how much more the “light” of God’s glory moving us from victory to victory and from glory to glory? He can move us from a dead state into a place of life and victory!!
Children of God, know that you are the tribe of Christ, which is a tribe of “light”! We’re the ones encamped toward the direction of the rising of the “sun”, which is the beginning or the dawning of a new day in Christ Jesus!!!
God had Moses to build the “Ark of the covenant”, and in it was contained “the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant” (Hebrews 9:4).
Exodus 25:21-22 And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel. Exodus 28:30 And thou shalt put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim (light) and Thummim (perfection); and they shall be upon Aaron’s heart, when he goeth in before the LORD: and Aaron shall bear the judgment of the children of Israel upon his heart before the LORD continually.
The “light” of God works like a laser beam that will go right between the layers of your flesh and cut out of you everything that is not like Him. Hebrews 4:12 The word of God is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Now you can better understand Genesis 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. The only way back to “Eden” (the place of dominion, authority, power, eternal life, divine health which is heaven to us now) is through the “flaming sword” which is the Word of God and the fire of God purifying the “garden” (man’s body) and burning out of us everything that is not like God!!!
Thirdly there is the “air lift pump”. With this pump, you have to lift the handle up and down. This is called priming the pump. The “priming” is to stimulate something that excites the body; something that produces a response; something that transmits an impulse along the nerves; something that produces movement of a muscle; something that will cause a changed state of mind (or consciousness or awareness); something that will stir up or rouse one to action; something that will give insight; something that will impel, drive, or force one to act; something that will compel, move or push one forward.
My God!!! This “something” that I’m referring to is “the light of God’s glory”, which is His very honor, His wealth, His reputation, His dignity, His character! Isaiah 11:2-3 describes the “light of God’s glory”! And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth. God’s glory is His “righteousness” and contained in His righteousness is all that’s listed in Isaiah 11:2!
With this same “air lift pump”, it also takes three strokes to work this pump. As with the athlete (weight lifter), that too has three power lifts.
With all the acts of pumping, it brings me to the very “heart” of man.
We all know that the “heart” pumps blood throughout the veins of man for life, and there’s life in the blood. Leviticus 17:11 The life of the flesh is in the blood.
But the “heart” I’m talking about is not the muscle or organ in your chest. This “heart” is the very center of you, the very core of your being. Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
As well as the other pumps needed three items in order to operate, so does the heart of man.
Three is the number of resurrection. Resurrection is from the root word which means standing up again; moral recovery of spiritual truth; to raise to life again.
How many know that God’s resurrecting power can raise you out of any dead state or situation that you might be in?
Children of God, the three things that are needed to “prime this pump” are:
(1) The Word of God - Romans 10:13 For whosoever (all men, everyone, all manner of men - the drug addict, homosexual, lesbian, drunk, no respect of person) shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Saved means delivered, protected, made whole, preserve (deliver from danger, suffering or diseases).
I’m simply saying, we need to have the “Presence of God”: The “I AM” which is God’s name in man, as man (Exodus 3:13-14). The “I AM” that made us in His image and after His likeness (Genesis 1:26-27). The “I AM” who is the kingdom of God within us (Luke 17:21). The “I AM” who is the solid Rock of our foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11).
(2) Let’s take a look at “the work of Christ (the Anointed One and His Anointing)”.
For He was yet man but still God! (St. John 1:14). He must be formed in us! Galatians 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you! (1 John.4:17) For as he is, so are we in this world.
Paul experienced birth pains in those days of outreach ministry. Here Paul is having birth pains all over again because the believers were not living up to their spiritual potential.
The word “formed” in Galatians 4:19 means an outward expression of an inner nature. Simply stated, being formed is a change in lifestyle because of an inward spiritual condition!
For Christ to be formed in us takes time. But just know beyond a shadow of doubt that you will sense His Presence in your life immediately!
(3) “The witness of the Holy Spirit”! This is the written record, evidence, and the testimony of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is the fullness of God and His Son Jesus in us! (1 Corinthians 6:19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you? Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Abba Father (dearest Father) is denoting heritage - meaning He has made us heirs to the kingdom!! Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
So children of God “prime your pump” with the Word of God, the work of Christ, and the witness of the Spirit!
And my dear children of God, abide in Him, that when He shall appear (made visible; manifest Himself in your life), you may have confidence (assurance; persuasion) and not be ashamed before Him at His coming (His very Presence in your life).
If you know that He is righteous (just, innocent), which is God’s very own character, you know that everyone that doeth righteousness is born of Him.
O ye little children of God, as you “prime your pump” on the road to success, remember Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called failure, a loop called confusion, speed bumps called friends, red lights called enemies, caution lights called family, and flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called determination, an engine called perseverance, insurance called faith, and most of all a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called “success”!
