How is Your Walk with Christ?

I bring you greetings from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who hath already done great and mighty things for us and in us!

Brethren, it's past time that we as God's people put away all foolishness and wresting of the scriptures to suit our personal gain. There is no profit in this. (2 Peter 3:16) What does one gain by twisting what God hath already said? Romans 15:4 declares that “whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning”. The word of God is already “settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89), and we have the opportunity to search the scriptures to see if those things we have learned line up with the truth (Acts 17:11) and to make sure our lives line up with what has already been written.

Before going any further, let's define “settle”. “Settle” means to “put in a definite order, position, or condition; to make or become clear”. Mind you, the words of God are written for our learning, and we must learn to depart from evil. “Fear the Lord and depart from evil”. (Proverbs 3:7). Being wise in our own eyes causes conflicts in our lives. Only the truth of God can make us free in our minds (John 8:32). The mind must be renewed so that the thought process can be transformed,
and the mind of Christ can be manifested in our lives daily, not just when we go to church on our special day. (Ephesians 4:23; Philippians 2:5). Going to church doesn't make you a Christian. The church building is a place of assembling for God's people and a place where the preaching and teaching of the word takes place on the days that we assemble, but what are you doing the rest of the time? You are responsible for searching and studying the word for yourselves with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. (2 Timothy 2:15; Acts 17:11)

The word of God hath been written for our learning that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened that we may know his perfect will and the exceeding greatness of his mighty power that is able to change us (Ephesians 1:18-19) because we believe the truth.

What the truth does is expose and make known the foolishness in the heart of man. Anything that's exposed and reproved by the light of the word is made visible and clear so that even a child can understand. (Ephesians 5:14)

Now you decide - is it going to be God's perfect will? Do you want to awake out of spiritual sleep and allow God to do of his good pleasure in your life? (Ephesians 5:14)

Let us all be wise men and women of God living in the light of the word experiencing the life and freedom that hath been given us.

- Minister Linda Lawrence
