1 John 3:8: "He
that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.
For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy
the works of the devil." (KJV)
Everything in life has purpose. All of nature that God spoke
into existence has purpose. Mankind
which God spoke into existence has purpose. Without water all living
things will die. Without animals and vegetation, there would not be food to
eat. Without mankind, God would not have a place of habitation - for He dwells
in you. (Ephesians 2:22) "In whom ye
also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit."
Let’s take a look at the latter part of 1 John 3:8: "For
this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of
the devil." God sent his Son Jesus to destroy the works of
the devil. What are his works? Evil. "The thief cometh not, but for to
steal, and to kill, and to destroy."
He wants to steal your joy
and your mind. He wants to kill you and your influence, and he wants to destroy
everything and everyone who represents the name of Christ.
Gen. 3:1 states: "Now
the serpent was more subtil (crafty, cunning usually in a bad way) than any beast of the field." (the
field is the world). So you see, this old serpent has been around for a long
time. Even he was created for purpose. One might ask, "what purpose?"
For an opponent. An opponent is one who
opposes. Another definition is adversary. The devil opposes any and everything
good. St. John 10:10 tells us that he is
"The thief who cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy." Also St. John 8:44 tells us
that "He was a murderer from the beginning, and
abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him."
1 John 3:8 says he
"sinneth from the
beginning", meaning he came out from Christ. The creation was built in Christ (Colossians.
1:16). Christ is the Beginning
(Rev. 21:6). The devil stepped out of
the Beginning, and when he stepped out of the Beginning, he saw his end. He saw that Christ was the end of his power.
Every time the devil opposes God, God shows him just who
is God. Our God has given us that same
Anointing, power and authority to keep the devil at his wits end. We have been
anointed for purpose. When the devil comes up against the Sons of God, he sees
his end because of the Anointing! Hallelujah. The anointing is given through people to
demonstrate God’s love and power. He did
not anoint us to just sit around moping, sad, confused, broke and disgusted; always
talking about what used to be and what could have been; living in the past
saying "if I had done this" or "if I had done that" - if,
if, if. "If" is a crooked
letter and G surely can’t straighten it. Forget about yesterday and live in the Now.
God knew the beginning in the end. He knew the first adam would mess up, and
that’s why he sent the second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:22) "For as in Adam
all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." Verse 45 of that same chapter reads "And
so it is written the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit."
Therefore we will not accomplish anything relying on our own
strength, our own thinking, our own way of doing things. We must totally move, live, think and breathe
under the unction of the Holy Ghost or the Anointing. Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God
demonstrated the love, humility and power of God throughout his ministry. When
he rose, he rose with all power and authority and has given us that same power.
The creation is waiting for us (Romans 8:19). How long will
we just sit and talk about what God did for David, Sampson, Moses and all the
heroes of faith. The same God they trusted and believed in is the same God that is in
us now. Are you fearful? Remember God has not given us a spirit of fear
(2 Timothy 1:7). Are you afraid of the
oppositions that will come? We will have
oppositions, tests and trials, but our God shall deliver us out of them all. (Psalm 34:19)
As God takes us to higher levels, there will be new devils. When we move up a notch, he (the devil) moves
up a notch. He has been around a long
time. He was the serpent in Genesis but
has become the dragon in Revelation, chapter 12. We start out as babes and mature to Sonship. Can you see why he’s fighting the Sons of God
every step of the way? It’s because he
does not want us to come into maturity. But how many know he won’t win! God’s anointing and power on the inside of
us is Greater. For this purpose has
God Anointed us to destroy the works of the devil. Revelation 20:2-3 tells of his demise. "And
he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan,
and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut
him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more,
till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a
little season."
Brothers and sisters: because of the Anointing and the
Righteousness of God, we have been suited up for battle. We’re armed and extremely
dangerous, and hell is trembling. Now is the time to come together as an army. Now is the time for us to come together with a
oneness of mind, and that is to destroy all the workings of the devil and tear
his kingdom down. Let us not try to do
this alone but call the saints together with fasting and prayer, praising and
believing, and giving thanks for all things.
I believe we’re on the cutting edge
of something Big in the spirit. The enemy wants to divide and conquer, but it's
not going to happen. We’re Sons, and we
will not accept defeat. We’re Sons, and
we will not compromise. Know that the
giant that has presented itself no longer has his head attached - it is already
cut off.
God has anointed us for purpose,
and because of the anointing, we will be able to face the giants without fear
and trembling. There is much work to be
done for the kingdom. We have places to
go and people to deliver. God is in us
and with us and for us, so let us be about our Father’s business. We must preach the gospel of the Kingdom in
all the world so that every nation should know where the kingdom is embodied. For the Kingdom of God is within you.
(Luke 17:21) "Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for,
behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
We have been Anointed for Purpose! Let us be about our
Father’s business!
