Text: Genesis
3:6-7:
And when the woman
saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and
a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did
eat, and gave also unto her husband with her and he did eat. And the eyes of
them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig
leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
“Genes-is”
- everything that God is and we are is in the genes. Genesis is about the genetics of God, and we are His genes
in flesh form.
Acts 17:28-29:
In
him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets
have said, “For we are also his offspring”.
We are God’s “gen’os” – meaning His kin; kind; stock; nation; generation. Offspring is from another root word “gin’omai”,
meaning, “to cause to be or generate,
or to become”. God has become “man” (male & female)
in flesh form or man is God made visible.
St. John 1:1:
In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God: Vs 14: And the Word was made flesh. Matthew 1:21: And
thou shalt call his name Jesus.
1 John 4:17: As
he is, so are we, in this world.
[Not out beyond the blue, but “here” and “now”]!
If you are saved, you can sin, but if
you are born again, you cannot sin.
When you are saved, you are forgiven. When you are born, you take on the
very genes
of God.
1 John 3:9: Whosoever
is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remains in him:
and he cannot sin, because he is born (re-gene-d) of God.
When we take on the genes
of God, as He is so are we, in this world: 1 John 4:17.
We know that we have our parents’ genes. God used them to
get us here and to be our “guardians”. We were sent here, and we are regenerated (re-gene-d) of God by His mighty power. He is continually reproducing Himself in
His people.
Genesis chapter 3,
we’ve been talking about the “fall of man”. We left off at Genesis 3:5: For God doth know that in the day ye
eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil.
The LORD God had commanded the man
(male and female; the Adam people who
were in charge of the creation): “Of
every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in
the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die”: Genesis
2:16-17.
Genesis 3:4-5: And the serpent said unto the woman, “Ye shall not surely
die: For God doth know that in the day
ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods,
knowing good and evil”.
The serpent (whisperer;
liar; devil; enemy) lied to the woman saying that she shall not die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall
be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. What the serpent (devil; Satan) didn’t tell
them was that they were already “gods”. Psalm
82:6: I have said, “Ye are gods: and all of you are children of the Most
High”.
Genesis 3:6:
And when the woman saw that the
tree was good for food.
This was not
a physical tree with apples on it,
but the trees were people. In God’s language “trees” are referred not only to physical trees (oak; palm; elm, etc), but it’s used in
reference to “people” as
well.
Mark chapter 8 [Jesus heals the blind man]: (vs
24): And he looked up, and said, “I see men as trees, walking”.
Isaiah 61:3: To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for
ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the
planting of the Lord, that he
might be glorified.
Jude 12: These are spots in your feasts of
charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they
are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withers,
without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots
In God’s language, “trees” were people producing the fruit of God’s Spirit and was in
a position of power and authority and dominion ruling and reigning in the
earth.
Job
38:4-7: Where was thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
....When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted
for joy?
This singing and
shouting was not just singing songs and dancing. That’s fine because we do that now in praise
to God. But when you search out the
definitions of those words, you find that they (the morning stars
& sons of God) were people that had the ability to plow
(go into the old soil and plow or turn
it over to bring up fresh soil) in those they ministered to by the
power of God. This was one of the definitions
of those words when God was talking about the morning stars singing
together and the sons of God
shouting for joy. These were people who had the ability with
the Word of God to plow into those old earths (old nature; old man), and it would turn up new soil (new nature; new man).
Morning stars in Job
38:7: “morning” is the
Hebrew word bo’qer, meaning
“to dawn” (as the break of day); early: (also) from “baqar” (baw-kar) meaning to plow, break
forth; to inspect; admire; care for; consider; enquire; seek; search.
Jesus told us who the “stars”
were in Revelation 1:20: The
mystery of the seven “stars” which thou saw in my right hand: the seven stars are the angels
(messengers) of the seven churches:
We were raised on a farm and when
our Dad got ready to plow the
field, the plow did not ask the earth if it was okay to plow it. He just dropped that plow right into the
earth and it when down into that earth and turned up fresh soil making it ready
for the planting of the seed. When God
got ready to plow our earth, He didn’t ask us if it was okay to do this in
us. He sent the messenger with the plow
which was the Word of God, and when that Word fell into our earth, it began
to take that old soil and take it to the bottom and turn up the new soil! It certainly didn’t feel good to us but it was good for us!
- Colossians 3:9-10: Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.
The word “sang” in Job 38:7, is from the root word “ranan”,
(pronounced raw-nan’), meaning to creak (or emit a
stridulous sound), meaning to shout (usually for joy); rejoice; cry out; shout aloud.
Another word for creak is “echoic”. Echoic means to imitate in sound. To imitate means to seek to follow the example of;
to reproduce in form, etc. The “morning
stars” were those at the dawn of creation that God had put in
charge of the creation and were saying in
the beginning what God was saying; repeating
what God was saying to God’s people, which was “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion and authority
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living
thing that moves upon the earth.
An “echo” is a reverberation or
repeat of another’s words or ideas.
The word “shout” in Job 38:7, is from the root word “ruwa’”,
meaning to mar (especially by breaking); to
split the ears (with sound), in relation to shout (for alarm or joy); alarm or cry.
Isaiah 58:1:
Cry
aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people
their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.
Those were the kind of “trees”
that God had in the beginning and in the garden - those able to give out the
kingdom message. They lost that place of
power when they tried to usurp authority in the place of God, and God brought
them down as with Lucifer, Isaiah
14:12; and those Jude 6
spoke of: “And the angels (messengers) which kept not their first estate, but
left their own habitation”.
Now as fallen people,
they are trying to turn those whom the LORD God has formed in the image of God from
this truth and deceive them with the teachings of men and succeeded in
deceiving them in relation to the Word of God.
It had to be with the Word because the LORD God had already said not to
eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. These fallen stars knew both – that which was
“good”
and “evil”! They had become
double minded! They were doing
that which only pertained to life
but when they fell or left their habitation, they fell right back into mortality, ignorance, misery, destruction,
confusion and death.
They are now looking at two schools of thought. This is why the LORD God said to “the man” in
Genesis 2:16-17, not
to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We have to know that whatever is going on in
our lives is working for good. It may
not feel good to us, but the after effects are good for us! After
the killing comes the resurrection!!
Genesis 3:1-5:
the serpent is talking to the woman - this whisperer; a spirit of deception; a
lying spirit.
Genesis 3:6: And when the woman saw that the
tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be
desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave
also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
This woman (a type of the church) saw that the tree was good for food. The “serpent” knew that he had to get
her attention first. He had to get her
distracted. She “saw” - looked, beheld, considered, deliberated
in her mind, contemplated, meditated on
it, and it caused her to turn from the God way to the way of the enemy. She believed what the enemy said and entertained
what he said. She allowed it to evolve
in her mind and weighed it out. Against
her better judgment she took notice
of what he had said - speculated, took
into account, enjoyed it, approved of it; heeded to it; have experience; came
near to it; examined it; and then she chose to do what the liar said.
All of this is the definition of “saw”.
She “saw” that
the tree was good for food. What is food?
It is edible provender (meat, fruit, and vegetables). It is that
which we feed on; consume; devour. Eating is presented along with seeing,
hearing, and smelling as one of the basic functions of
living. The synonyms for food
are: nutriment, provision, substance,
subsistence - anything that furnishes support to life. But that which the serpent offered brought on
death.
The woman
(church) listened to the serpent,Satan and began to entertain the thought that
there could be something better than what she had. What could be better than God? They (the Adam people) were walking in a
place of dominion, power, and authority in God.
They had everything provided for them - peace, divine health, eternal
life! So what more could they have
wanted? It’s the work of the enemy
(Satan), who is the opponent of God to do what John 10:10 states: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more
abundantly.
This “deceiver” is someone who had been in the place of dominion,
authority and power and lost it. Now he or
they are going to lie to those that are now in that place and attempt to pull them
from that place of dominion, authority and power and did.
Matthew 4:2:
And when he had fasted forty days
and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
Verse 3: And
when the tempter came to him, he said, “If thou be the Son of God, command that
these stones be made bread”.
Verse 4: But he answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”.
God’s word is a proceeding word. It doesn’t stand still or stay in one
place. It is a continual moving and
operating of God’s power through His Word.
When He tells us to do something, His Word is already in operation and making preparation for us in relation to
whatever God has spoken to us!
1 Kings 17: When the brook Cherith dried up, God
sent Elijah to Zarephath, and said in Vs 9: Behold, I have commanded a widow woman there
to sustain thee. GLORY TO GOD!!!
The LORD God had already said in Genesis 2:16-17: And the Lord God commanded
the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and
evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou
shalt surely die.
The “man” Adam (awdawm) (male & female) was head of the creation and the
“woman” was taken out of his side of whom, he was the head. Isn’t Jesus the same today, the Head of the
creation and the Head of the church? Colossians
1:18: And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the
dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
The LORD God’s command was for
them not
to eat of the “tree of the knowledge of good and evil” but she (the
woman) listened to “the serpent” (the
whisperer). What he said was pleasant, delightful, and beautiful to
her.
Genesis 3:7: And
the eyes of them both were opened:
The definition of “eye” is the fountain of the landscape. The “eyes” are looking at the outward appearance. But with the spiritual “eye”, you only
see one thing and you see it with the “eye of the mind” or the “eye
of the spirit”.
The woman was
tempted, and Jesus was too. With every temptation that Satan brought to
Jesus in Matthew 4, it
covered the temptations of the woman
in Genesis 3. In other words, where she was deceived and
fell, Jesus got the victory over it!! He
conquered all of those same areas.
1 John 2:16: For all that is in the world, the lust of
the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,
is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Matthew 4:5-7:
Then the devil taketh him up into
the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him,
“If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give
his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up,
lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone”.
Jesus knew He was the Son of God. The enemy said “if thou be”. We have to know who we are in God. We are more
than just mere men. We are gods in God
or better than that, we’re God in flesh
form.
- 1 John 4:17: As he is, so are we, in this world!
Exodus 7:1 And
the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy
brother shall be thy prophet.
God is God! Does God not have prophets? God showed Moses who he (Moses) really
was. God in this revelation to Moses,
was typifying then that he (Moses) was god. and letting us by revelation
understand that we too are gods.! I have made thee a god to
Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. Actually, Moses was “the God”
that went into Egypt to deliver the Israelites.
- Exodus 3:13-15: And Moses said unto God, “Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, the God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? What shall I say unto them”? And God said unto Moses, “I AM THAT I AM”: and He said, “Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, “I AM hath sent me unto you”. [Actually Moses was saying, “I AM God that has come to deliver you”]! And God said unto Moses, “Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
- Psalm 82:1: God stands in the congregation of the mighty; he judges among the gods.
- Vs 6: I have said, “You are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High”.
Doesn’t God have prophets?
Moses was a god to Pharaoh,
and he had Aaron as his prophet. All he
had to do was tell Aaron the Prophet what to do, and Aaron did it. God just tells us what to do, and He wants us
to do whatever He tells us to do!
Mary said in relation to Jesus when He turned the water to
wine St. John 2:5: Whatsoever
he saith unto you, do it!
What the enemy showed the woman looked good and was pleasant to her eyes. Genesis
3:6: It was a tree to be desired, to make one wise.
The enemy can make things look real good. The grass looks greener on the other side
until we start grazing, and we find out afterward that it was not as good as what
we had.
He made it look good for the woman – “a tree to make one wise” (intelligent, skilled, prudent, expert,
given to good success, wisdom; to be guided willingly).
Jeremiah 9:23-24: Let not the wise man glory in his
wisdom, but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and
knoweth me.
That’s what God is saying.
If you want to think yourself wise or give yourself glory, let it be
that you understand and know Him.
Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the Lord with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6: In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct
thy paths.
7: Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear (or reverence) the Lord, and depart from evil.
The woman (the church)
in Genesis 3 was tempted, and
so
was Jesus.
- Hebrews 4:15: For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
- Matthew 4:8-10: Again the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world. This is amazing since Jesus Himself was the Kingdom according to Mark 11 when Jesus entered Jerusalem, and the people shouted Hosanna, “Blessed be the kingdom of our father David that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
Here in Matthew 4
the enemy is talking to the kingdom
and then shows Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of
them. What the devil was showing
Jesus was nothing that Jesus didn’t know.
Jesus knew everything.
The kingdoms throughout scripture as we look from Genesis
throughout Revelation are a manifestation of world powers or systems that tries
to hold God’s people in bondage. It is
still happening! Remember Ecclesiastes 1:9: The
thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that
which shall be done: and there is no new
thing under the sun.
In relation to the “serpent”, in Genesis he is a “serpent” but when you get to Revelation he has become a “dragon”
with
“seven heads”! He has
matured from a “serpent” to a “seven headed dragon”.
As we look through scripture, we see that those kingdoms
were governments. The devil was
presenting to Jesus those powers and how they work. We are seeing how those powers now work
because we are under a government power.
It started in Genesis with Egypt,
Assyria, Babylon, Greece, Persia, Rome, Papal Rome, and the
8th is the one we see know.
The kingdom of God overrules all those
other kingdoms.
Isaiah 2:2:
And
it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house
shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above
the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
Satan showed Jesus all of these kingdoms and the glory of
them. Matthew 4:9: And
saith unto him, “All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and
worship me”.
10: Then saith Jesus unto him, “Get
thee hence, Satan: (same
spirit that spoke to the woman in
Genesis is speaking to Jesus) for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only
shalt thou serve”.
11: Then the devil
leaveth him”.
You see
how that serpent, that whisperer
is the Devil and Satan (just different manifestations of him), but it
is a spirit of the enemy. Jesus called
him Satan
- Get thee hence, Satan (Satanas’ - the accuser; devil).
Verse 11: Then the devil (diabolos – slanderer; deceiver;
false accuser; Satan) leaves him, and,
behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Jesus remembered the law that God gave Moses. Exodus
20:3: Thou shalt have no
other gods before me….Vs 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve
them.
The enemy presented a new idea to the woman/church. Genesis 3:6: and she took of the fruit thereof,
and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
“Took” means she took possession of what he said; seized; received; swallowed; absorbed;
accepted willingly; chose
what he said, and ate of it or “appropriated” it to her life.
“of the fruit”:
there is natural fruit, but the
definition of fruit is to be fruitful;
first-fruits; reward; fruit thereof; as a noun - reward; product; result; as a verb - bear fruit, to yield or to harvest an offspring; result;
consequence; outgrowth; production or product. When the woman ate of the fruit, what
she was really eating was the reward,
product, harvest, result or the consequence of the lie. She (the woman – the church) was eating the consequences of what he (the
serpent) said to her - destruction; mortality; ignorance; misery and
death.
When it comes to “eating of the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil” it is to agree with
that which is error or that which opposes God. Once the
woman and her husband agreed with the lie and appropriated it to their lives, they died to all of the consciousness or awareness of the original
thoughts or mind of God.
God’s thoughts are life.
They lost control of the dominion; authority; power over creation; even their
own bodies. They moved from light to darkness; life to death; immortality to mortality, incorruption to corruption. When they ate of the forbidden fruit, “THE CHRIST” was put to sleep in the earth! Christ
has always been. He didn’t just appear after Mary gave birth to Him. She gave birth to Jesus, the Christ child, but
Christ has always been. Remember this: “Jesus was not born CHRIST, He was made
CHRIST”!
