Having Your Loins Girt About With Truth

For the next few weeks, our ministry will be covering the topic of spiritual warfare from the epistle of Ephesians. This epistle is a GREAT call to work, meaning live worthy of our call. To do this requires us to continually be arrayed with spiritual armor. This message is about the “loins girt about with truth”, using the King James Version for text.

Ephesians 6:14: “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth”

As we review this scripture, let us first look at the words “stand therefore”. To stand means to endure, appoint, establish, to bring, having to maintain an upright position supported by one’s feet (and you know without your feet, you can’t stand!). Also, it's an attitude toward a particular issue or a position taken in an argument.

Now, if we want to be true soldiers of Jesus Christ, we must take a stand against all forms of immorality or with any situation or battle we come up against. We must keep God first in order for us to come through it. You see, what the devil wants is for you to quit, turn back, or get distracted. And when we get distracted, we lose focus. A prime example was when I was going to KFC one day, and I had started thinking about all that was going on in my life. By the time I came to focus, I was at the Henderson Mall trying to figure out: 1) how I got there and 2) what was I there for? Then I remembered KFC, which was where I was supposed to be going.

That’s why we have to hold our ground because the devil is going to throw all his schemes at you. And he’s going to start in the MIND where thoughts are formed. And his weapon will be lies about YOU - you'll never amount to anything, nobody loves you, God didn’t call you, you will never come out of debt. Then down we go for the count. Now just like a boxer, when you go down for the count, you can’t stay down long. And that’s how God is - he doesn’t want you down long; you have to get back up, get your thoughts together, and stand your ground. Remember this fight is spiritual. So when you get up, your weapon of choice will be HAVING YOUR LOINS GIRT ABOUT WITH TRUTH.

Did you not know that your loins are the chief seat of bodily strength? If the loins fail, the whole body sinks, which in turn causes you not to be able to produce SONS OF GOD. And why did I say that?Because the loins are the PROCREATIVE POWER which is prepared for activity. Now listen to this: They are the reproductive potential of a species in its relative capacity to reproduce itself under optimal conditions. In other words, they are “the reproductive or generative organs” which are located in male and female. Now did God not reproduce himself through his Son Jesus the Christ and the Holy Spirit and then turn around and deposit that same spirit in us under optimal conditions?

What are the optimal conditions? Definition: The optimal condition is one that is the best for all things. In ergonomics, this typically means that the task, work site, tool, etc. is the best size or shape for the majority of the user population.

Example: A one-size-fits-all baseball cap is the optimal size for a cap. It may not fit everyone, but it will fit the majority of people within an acceptable level of comfort.

Now, we do know that this is a spiritual warfare. In this spiritual warfare, I, God, have chosen You, You, and You. WHY? Because the TASKS I have set aside for you are the ones that you’ll be best suited for. It could be at the work site, your school, your home, the mall, the church or anywhere where the people are dying and injured mentally and physically from what the devil has told them and has put them through. And the tool you are going to use will be the TRUTH meaning “that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality”.

TRUTH is the girdle that holds and secures things in place. It is who God is, and without this girting of TRUTH, standing or withstanding becomes much more difficult if not impossible. For Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the father but through me.” (John 14:6). And why did Jesus say that? Because the truth, which is God's word, is the foundation to all the other pieces of spiritual armor, which in turn keeps you free from the enemy's lies when you abide in God’s Word.

Also to be girded with truth is to be truthful and sincere to God and others. Satan will always attack the truth and God’s promises with lies. And then there are times when God must allow the devil to attack you. WHY?? To find out if there are any exposed parts or defects in the armor. And if so, God will work on that area to strengthen it. Then he will allow another attack to come - when family, friends, co-workers walk away, bills are due, sickness creeps in, people talk about you or scandalize your name. But you’re still standing having your loins girt about with truth.

The truth is that I am the victor and not the victim; I am the head and not the tail; I am healed in my body; and I’m a child of the most high God.

That’s the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! Now when you can speak those words back to the devil and you hear him say “RETREAT, RETREAT”, then God knows he perfected the armor!
