The Obtained Inheritance - Part 1 of 2

This message about “The Obtained Inheritance” is written in 2 parts. Part 1 begins here.

Text: EPHESIANS 1:1-11 [Thompson Chain Study Bible – KJV]

I couldn’t just use the title “An Obtained Inheritance”. It had to be “The Obtained Inheritance” because THE makes the subject “Obtained Inheritance” definitive [conclusive; fixed; final]!! Because Christ is OUR ALL IN ALL! Every thing that we are and ever will be is because of Christ! Everything we get from our heavenly Father is in Christ! It’s assured, and we can have it RIGHT NOW!!

STAND

Text: King James Version

Greetings unto you, and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. May you continue to hold fast the Word of Truth of the gospel which was preached unto you among many witnesses - the Word of God which you learned, heard, and received by faith in Jesus Christ.

Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Philippians 4:9

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised).” Hebrews 10:23

God has not changed his plan concerning his salvation for your life. For he said he would never leave you, nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5). Therefore let us continue to run with patience the race that is set before us.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12 1-2

Because God is able to perform everything that He promised unto his people!

For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.” Job 23:14

Continue to pray because God has willed that we do this! Pray in good times as well as the bad.

Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18

At this point, you may be thinking, how can I pray when things are going bad in my life? Remember the scripture Paul wrote in Philippians.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. “ Philippians 4:13

Your strength can’t get the job done. It’s the strength of your Heavenly Father working through you. You are not alone. God is with you! Don’t allow the devil to talk you down off the Word, which is able to save your soul.

Again, God is with you, and He is your God!!!! He will strengthen you and help you! He will uphold you with the right hand of his righteousness!
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand (resist) in the evil day. And having done all, to stand. STAND!! Girt up your loins with the truth of the gospel, that the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 6:13-14 & Philippians 4:7).

May the grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST be with you all! Amen.

A Picture of Him

New King James Version Bible

As a child, I imagined God to be this fatherly figure, with a beard, and long flowing robes, peering down at me from heaven, some place beyond the blue, watching and gently correcting me, like a father corrects a child.  I was taught that God sat on a high back throne, with Jesus, His son sitting to the right, in heaven. And the Holy Spirit was with us, to guide and help us. And that some day, we would go to heaven to be with Jesus. That imagery of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit remained with me through childhood and even through much of my adult life. It was reinforced by ministers preaching from their pulpits, the same message, and for a long time I believed it to be truth and searched no farther. But, how many folks know that; “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” (1 Corinthians 13:11) This brings me to the title of my sermon; “A Picture of Him.”

Our Spiritual Warfare Series Concludes! Comments or Questions?

Our spiritual warfare series concluded last week!

For the last few weeks, our ministry was covering the topic of spiritual warfare from the epistle of Ephesians. This epistle is a GREAT call to work, meaning live worthy of our call. To do this requires us to continually be arrayed with spiritual armor.

We are now "catching our breath" and busy preparing new messages in the weeks that follow!

While we "pause"... we are happy to respond to any comments or questions our readers may have on the spiritual warfare series or any other messages you have read on the GWM blog!

Questions or Comments? Please leave your thoughts in the post comments!
